Nuts and Bolts: Building Power through Effective Organization

The Chinook Center will host a workshop on ways to build effective organization on July 21 at the UCCS Downtown campus located at 102 S Tejon St., Suite 105 A. Social change groups are often driven by passion for a cause rather than a passion for structure and process. Learn how to turn that activist passion into an effective and long lasting organization. Create a set of organizational norms, by-laws, and operating procedures. Set goals to build a successful campaign. Create individual empowerment and long term commitment. Avoid burnout by creating a supportive, transparent, and democratic organization. Learn best practices for raising money and keeping track of that money. This workshop will be facilitated by board members Alex Archuleta, Jon Christiansen, and Jay Flesher, all three of whom have a great deal of experience in forming organizations, both formal and informal.
