Internship/Volunteer Opportunities at Chinook Center!
As a 100% volunteer, people-powered organization, we are always grateful for the work and support donated to building the movement for justice in our community! We are a designated 501c3 non-profit organization and can provide documentation of volunteer hours! While we are currently not able to offer payment for our interns and volunteers, we are happy to provide help with documenting the experience in your resume or working with an outside support organization to coordinate internship pay if possible.
We can also coordinate with your university/college to build an internship/independent study opportunity! The following specific volunteer positions are currently available (but please reach out if there’s an idea you have!):
Administrative Assistant Internship/Volunteer: We have a variety of administrative tasks, including scanning and digital file organizing that need to be completed. If you are the type that enjoys that kind of work- let’s put your skills to use for the movement! In order to create some consistency and offer a predictable resource to our member organizations, we request that you commit to a minimum of 2-3 hours a week, but we can work with your schedule. This work would take place at Chinook Center’s physical location.
Social Media/Website/Digital Media Internship/Volunteer: If you are skilled, or building skills, in digital communications we have an internship/volunteer opportunity to help with both Chinook Center’s website and digital media, as well as opportunities to develop digital media projects with our member organizations. In order to create some consistency and offer a predictable resource to our member organizations, we request that you commit to a minimum of 2 hours a week, but we can work with your schedule. This work can take place both at Chinook Center’s physical location or at your own location, depending on project specifics.
People’s Grocery Volunteer/Internship: As our program for free grocery distribution on Sundays grows, we need dedicated hours to managing the various components of the effort. The tasks may include coordinating/soliciting donations from area agencies, stores and individuals (including pick ups as needed), inventory and maintaining food safety of pantry items, and help with distribution events. Hours and time commitment are variable and some of the work can be done from home/off-site.
