Chinook Center Joins with Empowerment Solidarity Network to Offer The People’s Grocery Store

Over $700 worth of much needed FREE groceries for families and individuals suffering under the rapid and unexpected changes resulting from the COVID-19 crisis

On March 15, Chinook Center and Empowerment Solidarity Network, along with other community members who served as volunteers and by giving donations offered The People’s Grocery Store. We were extra careful to keep our social distancing protocols in place and paid close attention toward sanitation and food safety to avoid contamination on surfaces and items. All in all, we distributed much needed groceries to over 50 families and individuals in need. Thank you also to Colorado Springs Food Rescue for additional food supplies – especially lots of delicious fresh fruit!

Just because we must keep social distance does not mean our work in solidarity takes a break. Support each other and keep an eye out for future People’s Grocery events and other mutual aid and collaborative efforts in this challenging time. We need each other more than ever and we are so fortunate to live in a community with so many talented and effective grassroots organizers!
